Waffle Weave Towels (PDF) Pattern
4 shaft loom
Project Notes: The samples were woven using many colors. They are for inspiration. The instructions are for 3 towels and a 3.5-yard warp using a 4-shaft loom and any color you choose.
The last two images are from another warp to show you how other colors work if you decide to pick your own.
Solid warp & weft drawdowns are also included at the end of this document.
Note: You could substitute any colors you choose. Use up colors in your stash. The yarn used in this warp and weft is a mix of 6.5/2 and 8/2 un-mercerized cotton. It is sett at 24 ends per inch.
Fabric Description: Waffle Weave
There are several different treadling sequences that can be used to create waffle weave. In these instructions you will receive three different options: 4 treadles, 5 treadles, or 6 treadles. The threading sequence is the same.
What is interesting about using several colors in the warp for waffle weave are the results. When you look at the reverse side the colors that show are opposite and the pattern is different.
This is also one of those weaves that will look and feel very different after washing.
